It’s finally the last day of 2014, but Bali Police are not really celebrating: they are on high alert for the island’s security, especially in tourist-packed Kuta.
Bali Police Chief Inspector Benny Mokalou is emphasizing to police that they must remain vigilant and mindful of any possible threat.
“Remember that vandals have goals and objectives. So do not be careless because they know us and we do not know them,” said Mokalou, as quoted by Merdeka.
Mokalou confirmed to Merdeka that police are looking out for attempts from vandals, terrorists, and specifically members of ISIS to infiltrate Indonesia, especially Bali.
On the more local level, hundreds of peclang and banser desa, security from local communities in Kuta, will be involved with securing the area for the New Year. They will especially be deployed to safeguard the anticipated widespread use of fireworks and should be concentrated on Kuta Beach this evening, reports Merdeka.
