Concerned that his wife could not be reached by telephone, a sick husband came home from the hospital yesterday to discover his wife lying lifeless on the floor, and their young son crying by her side. The woman, identified as 29-year old Catherine Andrea Devita Suhartono, is believed to have passed away due to illness, though a post mortem examination is yet to be carried out.

According to a report by Jawa Pos, the woman’s husband, Fredrik Cokro, 30, had been receiving treatment for dengue fever at the nearby Prima Medika Hospital. After several failed attempts to get hold of his wife via telephone yesterday morning, he became worried and asked a colleague, Kristian Susilo, to check on her at the house. But when Susilo reached the home on Jl. Pulau Alor in Denpasar, there was no answer from inside, though the lights were on.

Anxious about his colleague’s findings, Cokro sought permission to leave the hospital and headed straight home where he forced his way in after hearing the cries of his son from inside. Tragically, he found his wife lying face down on the floor, already dead, while her toddler sat weeping next to her.

It is suspected that the woman, who was from Jakarta, died from some kind of illness as she had reportedly been taking pain killers.

“Previously, the victim had complained of being unwell and had been taking paracetamol,” said West Denpasar Police Chief Johannes Widya H. Nainggolan.

The initial inspection of the body was carried out at the crime scene late yesterday morning, and officers didn’t observe any signs of violence.

“Based on early findings, the victim died due to illness. From the results of the examination of the corpse, there were no signs of violence from either sharp or blunt objects,” said Nainggolan, as quoted by Jawa Pos.
