Bali ranks at the top of the list for ‘wellness tourism’

Bali’s an easy destination for tourists to indulge with one too many Bintangs and crazy nights out in Seminyak and Kuta, but our island is also topping the charts for health nuts who want some more holistic R&R.

The Island of the Gods has ranked as the number one destination in Asia for “wellness tourism” on a top 15 list for the beginning of 2015, made by travel search site Wego and travel review partner TrustYou.

“Wellness tourism is no longer a niche industry and has made a solid impact on global tourism overall,” says Joachim Holte, chief marketing officer of Wego, as quoted by Travel Daily.

“Some destinations automatically imply relaxation and recharge by their very nature and reputation, so it’s no surprise that Bali is at the top of the list scoring 88% of positive hotel reviews for wellness.

“Bali’s growing popularity is reflected in the number of airlines now offering direct flight connections from as far away as Dubai, as well as an expanding portfolio of spa resorts.”

While we love our fair share of gin and tonics by the pool and beachside frozen margaritas, we can totally see the appeal for wellness stuff, especially since the island has so many legendary ways to pamper yourself and refresh
