Bali prosecutors demand 5 years prison for Chinese woman caught with meth in underwear

A Chinese woman reportedly says she was just taking some meth to help her cope with head pain she got from an accident and heartburn.

Nonetheless, prosecutors in Denpasar are not so amused and demanded in district court on Wednesday that Lin Jia Ling, 24, get five years in prison, a fine of Rp 1 billion, and a subsidiary of six months in prison, reports Antara Bali

Ling was reportedly arrested by Customs Officers earlier this year at Ngurah Rai Airport on May 4, when she got off a plane from Taiwan and officers found 0.88 grams of meth in her underwear.

The woman apparently told officers when questioned that she found the meth that was belonging to someone else.

But she also said because she’s been suffering from certain ailments like pain in the back of her head and heartburn without medication, she’s been self-medicating with meth since 2014.

The defense must argue her case or submit a plea through her lawyer in a session next week, according to Antara.

Ling reportedly works at a beauty salon in Taiwan.
