A Democratic Party member from Bali of Commission III of the DPD (Regional Representatives Council) was arrested in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The KPK (National Corruption Eradication Commission) arrested Balinese council member Putu Sudiartana in Jakarta at the Parliament complex in Senayan and he has since been secured at the KPK building in Kuningan.
Vice Chairman of the Democratic Party Syarief Hasan said his party would investigate the case and take strict action against Sudiartana.
“We deeply regret that action. We ask that it’s investigated thoroughly and transparently,” Hasan said on Wednesday of Sudiartana’s alleged transgressions, as quoted by the Berita Satu network.
However, reports have not yet elaborated much on what “illegal action” Sudiartana took, but it’s got to be corruption-related if the KPK is after him.
Sudiartana was elected to the DPD for the 2014-2019 term as a Bali representative. He has made his career as a successful businessman and Democratic Party politician—until now that is.
