The foreign couple accused of murdering a Bali policeman won’t see court just yet.
Prosecutors have handed back the case of Australian Sara Connor and British boyfriend David Taylor to police investigators, on the basis that the files are “incomplete.” Police had delivered the case just over two weeks ago to prosecutors, recommending that both Connor and Taylor get charged with murder.
Bali police officer Wayan Sudarsa was found dead on Kuta Beach on August 17, with severe head wounds. Connor and Taylor were arrested as suspects, though Connor has consistently denied her involvement in Sudarsa’s killing, claiming she tried to protect the officer.
Head of the Denpasar District Attorney’s office crime division, Ketut Maha Agung, says police will take Connor and Taylor for further questioning and are after more witness statements before charges can be pressed.
“The police murder case against Sara and David (has) been returned to police investigators today,” Agung said, as quoted by Australia’s 9 News.
“After police investigators complete the files, we ask for police to hand the suspects and evidences to us.”
Police investigators better work fast. They have a 14-day deadline until they have to give the file back to prosecutors.
