Amid a crackdown on fake license plates in Bali lately, police say they have tracked down the most conspicuous of all: a white Lamborghini with a license plate that says, “DOMOGATSKY”.
Bali Police announced today that they have confiscated the sports car, which went viral recently, and its owner: a Russian man named Sergei Domogatsky.
Bali Police spokesman Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto in a statement received by Coconuts Bali today said that police received information last week about a tow truck request for a white Lamborghini from Canggu to an auto shop in Denpasar.
The police reportedly tried to locate the car by setting up checkpoints.
Eventually, they found the car parked at an automobile shop named Muji Body Repair. Police confiscated the car and were able to determine the identity of its owner.
“We informed the auto shop [to pass on to] the car owner [that he] can come to the Bali Police,” Stefanus told Coconuts Bali.
“Up until now, no one has come forward and brought proof of ownership of the Lamborghini.”
Stefanus said that once the Lambo owner shows up and presents the appropriate documents, they would be penalized for the customized license plate. Under Indonesia’s traffic law, using an unofficial license plate is an offense punishable by up to two months in prison or a fine of IDR500K (US$32.68).
