Bali Police squashes rumors of Solo bombing suspects fleeing to island

Bali’s Police Chief says there is no weight to rumors spreading on social media that two suspects from the terror network behind the bombing in Solo last week have fled to Bali.

A suicide bomber killed himself and injured a police officer in the small central Javanese city of Solo on July 5.

Polda Bali Chief Sugeng Priyanto says though despite no detection of any such terrorists, police are staying vigilant and tightening security at all major entry points to Bali such as the airport, Gilimanuk Harbor, and Padang Bai.

Bali Police spokesman Hery Wiyanto has similarly told local media that police have been focusing on vulnerable entry points and have so far not identified any terrorists as having entered Bali.

“Until now, based on the evaluation and analysis of intelligence, there are not any perpetrators, especially terrorists, who entered Bali territory,” Tribun Bali quoted Wiyanto as saying on Monday.
