Bali police officers and Kuta police chief questioned over bribe from buck’s night with alleged pistol whipping, taser use, and other violence

All they had wanted was a stripper to entertain them for their buck’s (bachelor) night out and they say they had even cleared it with their upscale Seminyak restaurant venue.

But things apparently went terribly wrong for a group of 16 men who flew into Kuta last February for the bachelor celebration of marketing consultant and former model Mark Ipaviz.

Eight Bali police officers and Kuta Police Chief Dedy Januarta are now being questioned on allegations that these Australians were threatened, pistol-whipped, and tasered on Feb. 26, 2015 by security guards, and that police made the Aussies pay a bribe of Rp 250 million after being told they would face indecency charges carrying 10 years prison time, according to Fairfax Media

Fairfax further reports that Bali Propam (police internal affairs) did confirm that police are being questioned over this alleged incident that was purportedly sparked after the Australians hired a stripper.

“I can’t say much, I have to report and coordinate first before I can talk to the media,” Propam chief Yacobus Sukirno said.

“We are not trying to hide anything from the media. Once it’s done, I will let the media know.”

But Bali Police spokesman Hery Wiyanto apparently said an official complaint has yet to be lodged, just that police were urged to investigate when the Australian government asked the Indonesian government what was going on, when reports of the incident hit the media this June

Wiyanto also said police were still trying to figure if the incident actually happened.

We would hope they would figure that out by now, six months later since the allegations are so appalling.
