A police officer in Bali was beaten and stabbed on Thursday night.
Sabhara public order squad 2nd Brig. I Putu Agus Adnyana stopped his car on Jl. WR Supratman for people crossing the street for a ceremony.
That’s apparently when three people surprise attacked him, beating and stabbing the 20-year-old cop.
Adnyana has suffered serious injuries to his neck, along with contusions on his face, as a result of the attack, police said. The Karangasem man must undergo intensive treatment at the hospital.
Bali Police’s Violent Crimes, Sub-directorate III, Adj. Senior Comr. Suratno confirmed the attack with local media and says police are investigating the violent incident.
Three suspects, who have been identified as members of ‘social organizations’ (read ‘gangs’) in Bali, have already been arrested along with some evidence.
“The three perps are IBKRW, 25, IBKK, 34, and WS, 51, VIVA News quoted Suratno as saying on Friday.
He also reportedly said that the three suspects have confessed to beating and stabbing the police officer in the neck, using a penknife. Under criminal law, they could face five years in prison, according to Suratno.
