Bali Police: Island is vigilant but security level is still ‘green’ following Brussels attack

After the shocking and devastating attack in Brussels on Tuesday, Bali Police is on alert for terror threats, but maintains that Bali is not at increased risk.

This has been announced by Bali Police Chief Insp. Gen. Sugeng Priyanto after simulation exercises in Denpasar on Wednesday for responding to terrorist attacks using chemical and biological weapons, radioactive devices, as well as nuclear weapons.

As with the follow-up to the Paris attacks in November 2015, Bali Police are also increasing vigilance at the airport and other entry points to Bali

“We keep increasing the vigilance at potential entry points to Bali and at vital points of interest, (places for) foreign representatives, and crowded centers for travel, entertainment, and so on. We are reinforcing these places with members of Brimob and Sabhara. Intelligence will also be involved,” Priyanto said, as quoted by Tribun Bali

But these are just precautions, Priyanto insisted, explaining that Bali is still safe and is in the “green” (low risk for terrorist attack) security level.

“While I’ve still designated Bali as green, we must remain vigilant,” he qualified.
