Police in Bali are still investigating the horrifying gang rape of a Swiss woman on Nusa Penida island.

The woman, a student on holiday in Bali, CM, 21, was allegedly raped by three young men in Penida, a small island southeast of Bali, on Feb. 10.

Three suspects have been arrested and are in police custody. Police have reportedly taken blood and urine samples from the suspected perps and the victim.

Regency police say they are working closely with the Swiss Consulate General in Bali to handle the case.

“Klungkung regency police are continuing to coordinate with the Consulate General in handling the case and clearing up the details,” Klungkung Police Superintendent Arendra Wahyudi told Detik on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Anak Agung Yuniarta, says the government regrets the incident.

“Certainly, in this case, we, the provincial government of Bali, deeply regret that there was an incident like this in Bali,” Detik quoted Yuniarta as saying.
