A suspicious piece of luggage left unattended at a KFC in West Bali prompted bomb threat fears on Tuesday morning, but Bali Police is saying now that we have nothing to be worried about.
According to Bali Police spokesman Hery Wiyanto, the suitcase was left at the fast food restaurant in Jembrana by a friend of one of the employees.
“Yes, it was not a bomb. The bag (suitcase) was left behind. So there was no threat,” Wiyanto told Tribun Bali on Tuesday.
He said there was a miscommunication between employees at the KFC, that another employee noticed the bag and reported it to the police after a shift change of the employee who left it there.
Wiyanto says there was only clothes and other toiletries in the bag, nothing dangerous.
This just goes show how on edge Bali is about terror threats. After the attack in central Jakarta last month, there have been a number of terror scares, including a letter claiming to be from the Jakarta attackers sent to local government offices, a letter claiming to be from ISIS sent from high school students, a suspicious bag left unattended in a Kuta ATM, and a fake bomb found in Tabanan.
