The Australian Consulate-General in Denpasar and Bali Police are taking extra security precautions following today’s bomb blasts and gunfire in central Jakarta.
“There are orders from above, in addition to our regular activities, to supervise and pay increased attention, straight from the Chief of Police,” said Wayan Sartika, an officer on guard at the Australian Consulate, as quoted by Tribun Bali.
Sartika added that it’s not just Australia, that at the moment, other consulate generals are adding personnel from Bali Police Vital Object Protection (Dit Pam Obvit).
“Security is being done throughout the Consulates, in the Moroccan, American, and Australian ones,” he clarified.
He said that the monitoring should give tourists reassurance that police are conducting surveillance in the region and keeping the area secure.
