Bali Nine executions will not be next week

Nobody seems to have any idea when the Bali Nine executions will be, but they will not be next week, according to the Attorney Generals’ office.

With the clemency pleas rejected of Bali Nine convicted drug smugglers Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, we’re all anxiously waiting for when and where the executions will take place.

While the Jokowi administration seems to be pretty tight-lipped with details about the impending executions, Tony Spontana, spokesperson for the attorney general’s office has said executions for the six drug offenders killed a week ago are still be evaluated and the next round of executions won’t begin until those evaluations are over, reports the AAP.

“Evaluation on the first execution implementation is predicted to be finished this week,” Spontana said on Monday, as quoted by the AAP.

“After the evaluation of the first executions is finished, then we will prepare for the second round.”

Both Chan and Sukumaran were visited by family members and friends today.

Their legal teams has not given up hope yet of postponing or canceling the Bali Nine pair’s executions as they are working on filing appeals for further judicial review of their cases. However, it’s unclear if Indonesian courts would hear another appeal.
