Bali Immigration will be looking more closely at tourists coming from ‘countries in conflict’

Bali’s Immigration says it will be keeping an eye on tourists entering Indonesia via Bali, coming from countries in conflict.

“We know with the free visa, that human movement with current global conditions is increasing. This includes the movement of people from areas of conflict that are increasingly open,” head of Ngurah Rai Immigration Class I, Ari Budijanto, said on Tuesday, as quoted by Detik

“We’re vigilant so that people (from areas of conflict) coming to Bali do not do things we do not want,” Budijanto said.

Increased vigilance will involve optimizing the communication network of immigration with relevant communities and stakeholders, like travel companies, according to Budijanto.

“We cannot work alone.”

Budijanto has reportedly just come into his Immigration leadership role. In addition to more closely monitoring tourists from ‘countries in conflict,’ his goal for his first 30 days in the new job is to also make sure the Interpol General Assembly on Nov. 7-10 goes smoothly.
