Though relations may be strained between Indonesia and Oz at the moment with all the Bali Nine executions controversy going on, Team America seems to be keeping it real with Bali.
US Ambassador to Indonesia Robert Blake met Bali Governor Made Pastika in Bali on Monday, according to Merdeka.
Blake is reportedly here in Bali to discuss the tourism sector on the island in the midst of hectic execution preparations for Australians Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan.
“We are looking forward to keeping up good cooperation between Bali and the US. Not only in terms of tourism promotion, but also in terms of handling security in particular, the problem associated with terrorists,” Blake said on Monday, as quoted by Merdeka. It’s the US we’re talking about here, of course they want to talk about anti terror efforts.
Cooperation over the years between Bali and its “sister province” Hawaii is expected to have mutualistic benefits, according to Blake. “The benefits are big enough for the two regions in the development of cultural tourism,” Blake said in front of the US Consul, in a discussion with Pastika on how the two tourist hubs can take a similar strategy.
