A shortcut connecting Denpasar to northern city Singaraja will hopefully soon be realized sometime in 2017, says Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika.
Bali’s got a serious congestion issue, especially through urban center Denpasar, which suffers from frequent traffic jams. A shortcut linking Denpasar to the north coast could ease the bottlenecking, the government hopes.
Pastika commented on the development plan at a meeting in Denpasar on Tuesday.
“One shortcut, at the very least. It’s already been a very long time that we’ve discussed it, but until now, there has been no realization,” Pastika said, as quoted by Tribun Bali.
There’s actually discussion of 10 different shortcuts, said head of the National Road Institute VIII, Sayeful Anwar. However, out of the 10 shortcuts, there are concerns for six because of steep inclines.
Additionally, Pastika (not surprisingly) explained that one of the big challenges of putting in such a shortcut for the government is land acquisition.
