While it doesn’t exactly come as a shock that Bali’s government thinks tourists are abusing their visa on arrivals, a spokesman for the Department of Manpower and Transmigration says these kinds of violations will not stand.
I Gusti Agung Sudarsana says many foreigners use tourist visitors to work on the island.
“We will coordinate and cooperate with immigration authorities to monitor the foreign tourists who come to Bali,” he said yesterday in Denpasar, as quoted by Liputan6.
In addition to misusing tourist visas, foreign tourists are also abusing Temporary Resident Permits, more commonly referred to as KITAS, to find work.
Sudarsana says this must be dealt with firmly.
“Many foreigners are ‘rogue,” misusing visit visas and permits… we need to minimize the abuse,” he said.
This kind of policy will not work without the participation of the community, so he urges people to narc when they have information.
