Bali flights from Oz back to normal after Rinjani volcanic eruption: Airport Manager

The General Manager of Bali Airport I Gusti Ngurah Rai has stated that flights between Bali and Australia have gone back to normal after cancellations yesterday from the eruption of Mt. Barujari (Rinjani) on Lombok island.

“From our observations through a ‘flight information display system,’ all flights to and from Australia are operating normally,” Airport GM Yanus Suprayogi said in Kuta on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara Bali

Satellites did not detect volcanic ash from Rinjani in Bali skies—so never mind about the return of #stuckinBali after all (at least for now)!

Mt. Barujari, the active volcano located within Mt. Rinjani’s caldera, erupted on Tuesday, catapulting ash as high as 2,000 meters from the summit.

A number of flights from Australia were cancelled yesterday, but domestic flights have remained unaffected.

Meanwhile, hundreds of trekkers have been evacuated from around Rinjani, a very popular volcano for hiking.
