Bali fish prices swimming high

For the past couple of weeks, Bali has recorded higher fish prices.

This has been seen especially in Jembrana’s market. Get this: ikan tongkol normally goes for IDR5,000 per kilo but now it’s soaring at IDR20,000 per kilo. Sardines were selling for IDR7,000, but now you can buy them at the market for a startling IDR25,000 per kilo, according to Tribun Bali.

Ni Wayan Riasi, a fisher trader in Jembrana’s market says prices have been spiking up since the start of the new year and is a consequence of limited supply. Bad weather has made it rough for fishermen to get their usual haul of fish, he says.
