Desperate to tackle Bali’s lingering rabies problem, Bali’s deputy governor is calling for local residents to hold traditional ceremonies to help handle the situation.
I Ketut Sudikerta’s suggestions to appeal to the higher powers at work comes after the island has repeatedly taken a variety of strategies such as getting around and vaccinating street dogs to the more controversial practice of dog culling.
Sudikerta said on Wednesday each village should hold its own upacara and these rituals could be what successfully wipes rabies in Bali, according to Merdeka.
Well, it’s a better approach than killing more dogs by the dozen.
