Bali Customs officers have arrested two Malaysian nationals.
The two were apparently found to be carrying drugs.
“We have secured from the two of them, 70.67 grams of marijuana, 2.89 grams of meth, 15 pills of ecstasy, and 105 pills of ‘Happy Five,’” head of Bali Customs, Saiful Husni said on Friday, as quoted by Tribun Bali.
The duo was caught upon arrival at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport on Oct. 20 when going through security screening. Their luggage was found to have drugs, while a body check apparently also revealed several pieces of marijuana plant cuttings hidden in one of the Malaysian’s socks.
“Both have been arrested and it will be handled by the police,” Husni said.
The Malaysian Embassy has confirmed the arrest of two citizens in Bali for involvement in drug trafficking.
“We received information confirming the arrest of a sports officer and a student from a Malaysian public higher learning institution at Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali after Indonesian authorities found drugs in a luggage belonging to one of them,” Malaysia’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim, told Bernama.
