Bali’s COVID-19 caseload has increased to 113, with 15 additional cases confirmed today.
The latest tally includes 32 recoveries and 2 deaths of foreign nationals, according to the latest data published by Indonesia’s Health Ministry.
Earlier this week, Bali Governor Wayan Koster said Bali still has a “long way to go” before it implements the central government’s Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) policy, during which the island’s caseload was only 86.
Koster reasoned that there is a lack of local transmission in the province and said most of its confirmed cases are imported, referring to Indonesian migrant workers and cruise ship crew members who have recently returned from abroad, as well as those who came to Bali from other regions in the country.
Instead, Bali will focus more on restricting access to the island by way of stricter measures at the Ngurah Rai International Airport and Gilimanuk Port, where rapid test screenings are reportedly in place.
