A representative from the Bali regional legislative council (DPRD) was reportedly arrested in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon after he was caught consuming meth.

I Nyoman Wirama Putra, a Golkar party politician who serves on the Tabanan regency DPRD in Bali, was arrested at the Alila Hotel in Pecenongan, Central Jakarta, Jakarta Police head of narcotics unit Sr. Comm. Nico Afinta said in a statement on Wednesday night.

Police could not yet provide much information about Putra’s arrest, nor a detailed chronology of events, according to Afinta.

“We ask for time. The team is still conducting an investigation into the matter,” the police commissioner said.

“There are other actors still being pursued.”

Based on information collected by Tribun Bali, Putra had been on a working trip to Jakarta at the time of his arrest.

Golkar secretary of the Bali Regional Representative Council I, Nyoman Sugawa Korry said he could not give any information about Putra’s arrest and that he still needed to verify whether or not it was true, when contacted by Tribun.

However, if Putra really was arrested over meth, then Golkar Bali would be taking decisive action, Korry said.

“If that’s true, than we will certainly take action in accordance with the rules of the Golkar Party,” he said.
