Last night’s fire at one of Bali’s most famous surfing beaches was devastating for local business owners.

Community members are turning to social media to show their support and pitch in with an online fundraiser, said to help rebuild the businesses destroyed.

A Facebook page “Help Balangan Beach” has been set up, which links to a “YouCaring” online fundraiser. As of writing time, $450 has already been raised.

Six cafes were reportedly burnt down last night around 9 pm in Balangan Beach on Bali’s southern Bukit Peninsula. The fire is believed to have been started from electrical problems, but this claim has not been substantiated yet.

A slew of photos have been circulating on social media of the flames and the aftermath.
