Bali bandit brothers engage with police in exciting car chase, ends in a big bang

Just like something out of the movies (think low-budget action), a pair of thieving brothers led police on a road chase in Denpasar on Saturday afternoon that ended with a big bang, literally.

Brothers Zevan Faisal Baswedan, 35, and Noval Vaisal Baswedan, 49, had broken into a car and stolen approximately Rp 2 million worth of cash, credit cards, and other important papers belonging to Australian couple Julia Chang, 51, and Arthur G Osbron, 53, according to Tribun Bali

But when locals nearby the Batubulan, Denpasar crime scene saw what was happening and tried to intervene, the brothers jumped on their motorbike and hightailed it out of there.

Thankfully they didn’t make a clean getaway and Sukawati Police were called and able to chase the brothers, zigzagging through heavy traffic and disregarding red lights.

“We continued to pursue the perps. They did not want to stop. No matter what, they kept going,” Gianyar Police Insp. Gusti Ngurah Winangun told Tribun Bali.

That was until the brothers jammed into a parked Ford, forcing them to the ground, off their motorbike.

The “Baswedan Bandits” are receiving medical attention from their road crash at the Bali Police Tritaja Hospital.

Winangun says the police investigation is still under development.
