The impending executions of the Bali Nine Australian pair on death row seem to be moving forward, inch by inch, but apparently the two prisoners don’t seem ready to leave Kerobokan Prison and Indonesian authorities are saying they need to “accept reality.”
Kerobokan Prison governor Sudjonggo has been singing Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran’s praises, noting that the pair have done wonders for the prison’s rehabilitation programs. Sudjonggo told media that the two are “faring well,” despite all this press, like the Indonesian attorney general saying the executions are about 90 percent prepped.
“I don’t know yet when they’re going to be transferred,” Sudjonggo said, as quoted by Australia’s 9 News.
“I’m not seeing them packing yet either. Myuran’s paintings are still in the studio.”
However, it’s Bali’s head ombudsman Umar Ibnu Alkhatab that’s saying Chan and Sukumaran need a reality check.
“I think they should accept reality,” he said after a prison visit on Thursday, as quoted by 9 News.
There are currently 10 prisoners on death row in line for the next execution round, that will be at Nusakambangan prison island in Central Java.
