The legal team for the Bali Nine Australians on death row will not let their clients face the firing squad without exhausting all options. And that includes pleading to Metallica for help.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo has been adamant that Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan will be executed this year, but what if his favorite bands tell him not to go through with it?
The president is a known metalhead and attorneys for the Bali Nine are trying to use that.
While Naplam Death already wrote an open letter to Jokowi, appealing for him to drop the death penalty, this time lawyers are looking to Metallica.
Todung Mulya Lubis, an attorney for the Bali Nine has tweeted twice at Metallica, once asking the band to come sing and campaign for mercy:
And the second tweet contained a video on the Bali Nine pair and supporters pleading for mercy:
Sadly, as of writing time, Metallica has yet to make any apparent response to the lawyer’s tweet.
