A lawyer who represented the Bali Nine Australians who were executed last month reportedly insists the Australian government needs to speak out against the death penalty sentenced to Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

According to attorney Veronica Haccou, the Australian government should keep consistent with its opposition to capital punishment and she’s acting on a promise she made to Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran that she would fight against the death penalty, whatever the offense, reports AAP.

But even for an act of terror that killed three people and injured at least 264?

Tasarnev was sentenced to die on Friday for carrying out the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013 with his brother.

But yes, it appears consistency is most important to Haccou, as she speaks out against the death penalty, for even the Bostom Marathon bomber. She says reform is always possible, even with the 21-year-old bomber.

”It is nothing but premeditated, state-sanctioned murder,” the lawyer said in a statement on Saturday, as quoted by AAP.
