One babysitter in Bali apparently had her eyes on more than just the kids she was supposed to be watching for a family in Denpasar.
Wawan Gobel says he never thought the valuables he had hidden in a private room would disappear, and he especially never thought the 40-year-old babysitter working for his family would take the stuff.
As much as Rp 100 million worth of valuables were taken from Gobel on Sunday, reports Tribun Bali.
Identified in Tribun’s report as SR, the babysitter apparently had even been lying about her identity since she claimed to come from East Java but her KTP says she’s from West Java.
Gobel says on Sunday around 10 am, he went out of his house with his wife and kid, but SR didn’t join because she said she wanted to clean up the house. Around 1 pm, they came back home and the house was empty—with the security guard reportedly saying that SR had been out of the house since 10:30 am.
Gobel then tried to call SR, but to no avail. After some time passed, around 4 pm, Gobel and his wife started to be suspicious so they said they went to check their valuables in their room only to find everything gone.
“At first I didn’t suspect anything, because the condition of the house at that time was still neat. Suspicions arose when the babysitter did not come back to the house even up til the evening,” Gobel told Tribun.
He said the babysitter has already been working for five months at his home, so he and his wife had trusted her.
Denpasar Police’s criminal investigation unit commissioner Reinhard Nainggolan says they are in the process of investigating the theft.
