A baby found sadistically killed in Sesetan, Denpasar on Friday is believed to have tragically died at the hands of its mother, who was allegedly ashamed the baby was born out of wedlock.
“The man who impregnated her did not want to be responsible and took off,” South Denpasar Police Chief Nanang Prihasmoko told Tribun Bali on Friday.
Purportedly unable to bear the shame of this father-less situation, 20-year-old Hariyanti Lendek allegedly had motive to kill her own baby.
Lendek is suspected of killing her newborn baby in the bathroom of a house on Jl. Suwung Batan Kendal. Her employer, Hendra Hariyanto, 35, heard sounds coming from the bathroom. Thinking Lendek was experiencing an unexpected miscarriage, Hariyanto says she called an ambulance from Sanglah Hospital. When the ambulance arrived, medical staff were reportedly shocked to see the baby had stab wounds on the stomach, chest, and neck. From there, the incident was reported to Denpasar Police.
The baby’s sad, gruesome death is still being investigated. Meanwhile, Lendek is being treated at Sanglah, Prihasmoko told Tribun.
