Autopsy results indicated that the elderly Dutch tourist who drowned while snorkeling in Pemuteran, Buleleng was killed from a heart attack.
The 74-year-old, identified in a Tribun Bali report as Anton De Jongh, had gone out snorkeling with his wife and two others on Monday afternoon, but never made it back to the beach.
“His wife thought he was busy snorkeling, but after he was gone a long time, she informed the hotel near where he was snorkeling,” Operations Manager at Adi Assri Hotel told reporters.
The man was eventually found floating in the water. He was rushed to the hospital and attempts were reportedly made to resuscitate him, but it was apparently too late.
“Once we got the autopsy results, the cause of death was identified as a heart attack,” head of Sanglah Hospital’s Forensics, Ida Bagus Putu Alit, told Tribun on Tuesday.
