Australian tourist allegedly attempts suicide at Legian hotel by jamming glass into his neck, could be suffering from mental disorder

A tourist staying in a Legian hotel allegedly tried to commit suicide by slashing his neck with glass.

The apparently disturbed Australian man was identified in a Tribun Bali report as Clinton, 36. Clinton was reportedly staying at the Adi Dharma Hotel Legian.

“Based on information from his friends, yesterday Clinton was walking around and looked confused,” said Sadnyana, a security guard at the Adi Dhrama Hotel, who reportedly accompanied the Australian man to Sanglah Hospital on Wednesday. (Though reports made no other mention of any friends of Clinton aside from this comment.)

Before his apparent self-inflicted wounds, Clinton had allegedly been consuming alcoholic beverages alone in his hotel and around 1:30 pm on Wednesday, he allegedly broke a glass bottle and plunged it into his neck, according to Tribun.

Upon his arrival to Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar, Clinton was reportedly still conscious, but seemed to be confused and drunk, according to Sadnyana.

The security guard says the bule had to be handcuffed for fear that he would flee and he believes that the foreigner was under the influence of alcohol or shrooms.

Meanwhile, a medical professional at Sanglah Hospital treating Clinton told Tribun that his wounds were being tended to and the patient had unsuccessfully tried to run away from the hospital yesterday.

Tribun Bali speculates that Clinton may be suffering from a mental disorder since psychiatric doctors have not yet allowed him to be discharged.

Kuta Police Chief Dedy Januarta confirmed with Tribun that police received a report of attempted suicide of an Australian national at the Adi Dharma Hotel Legian.
