An Australian tourist who suffered serious head injuries due to a motorbike crash in Canggu last week has died after being in a coma at Bali’s BIMC Hospital for several days.

Thirty-two-year old Erran Braddick from Queensland, Australia, was due to be flown home with LifeJet yesterday morning after a GoFundMe page, initiated by his sister, had managed to raise enough money to pay for the costly air ambulance service.

“Our goal is to get him back onto Australian soil as costs of him to remain at a hospital in Kuta are astronomical,” she wrote on the fundraiser page.

Concerned netizens managed to raise more than AUD$42,000 (US$29,934), money which will now go towards medical bills, getting his body home, and funeral costs, according to a post by his friend Bryden Roper on Canggu Community Facebook page.

Some of the details of Braddick’s crash are still unclear, including whether he’d taken out travel insurance and indeed whether he’d been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
