Australian government reportedly covered costs of sending Bali 9 bodies back to Oz

Even though it has been months since the Indonesian executions on April 29, a recent report reveals the Australian government picked up the tab for sending the bodies of Bali Nine Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran back home.

Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop divulged that her department funded the costs, “after careful consideration of the harrowing and unusual circumstances faced by the families.”

“We are not releasing details out of respect for the families and their privacy,” she said in a written answer to a question on notice from independent MP Cathy McGowan, as quoted by AAP.
