Australia will soon have a new Consul-General in Bali.
Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop announced Dr. Helena Studdert’s appointment in a press release.
With almost a million Australians traveling to Bali each year, the Consulate-General is the country’s third busiest post providing consular services, according to Bishop.
And not to forget that “Indonesia is one of Australia’s most important relationships,” Bishop wrote. Which seems to be cautiously on the mend since the Bali Nine executions earlier this year in April, that saw Australia temporarily pull its ambassador from Indonesia.
Studdert will start her new post after the new year, in January 2016, taking over from the outgoing Consul-General Majell Hind, Bishop said.
