Aussie Sara Connor tells court ‘I am innocent’ after losing bid to have murder case tossed out

Australian woman Sara Connor’s trial for murder in Denpasar court is moving forward.

The Aussie lost a bid to have the murder case against her tossed out on Thursday.

In response, the 46-year-old told the court “I am innocent”.

The Byron Bay woman is accused alongside her boyfriend for killing Bali policeman Wayan Sudarsa, who was found brutally murdered August 17, on Kuta Beach.

Connor and British boyfriend David Taylor are being tried separately and each face three charges: murder, torture and assault leading to the death of the policeman. The max jail term for the unpremeditated murder charge is 15 years behind bars.

Connor has maintained her innocence and Thursday’s “I am innocent” remark shows that that’s not changing.

Erwin Siregar, Connor’s lawyer, told the court that the defense will appeal the decision, but this will apparently happen while the rest of the trial continues on, according to AAP

Judges have ordered the trial to set off next week on Thursday with witnesses.
