Aussie expat going to trial in Bali over hashish possession

An Australian man allegedly caught with a small quantity of hashish in Bali last year will face trial over drug possession.

Giuseppe Serafino, 47, had reportedly been running Sanur’s On On Bar before his arrest on Oct. 8, 2015.

Police have alleged that they caught Serafino with 7.32 grams of hashish. Serafino claims to have been using the drugs to treat cancer, Bali police previously told reporters.

Also entangled in Serafino’s sticky situation is British former war correspondent, David Fox

Lucky (given the circumstances) for Serafino, the West Australian has not been accused of trafficking, which carries the death penalty in Indonesia.

Serafino’s case was handed over to prosecutors on Wednesday and the man is facing up to 12 years behind bars, AAP reports.

The Aussie will be locked up in Bali’s infamous Kerobokan Prison before he goes to trial, according to Bali prosecutor Ketut Maha Agung.
