An Australian man in his late 20s was handcuffed and sent to a hospital for mental health treatment after causing a public disturbance on Legian Street yesterday.

The Australian national, identified as SP, is reportedly a 29-year-old professional boxer. A video of him challenging drivers on the busy Legian street went viral yesterday on social media.

At one point, SP proceeded to shadowbox before he danced on the street. A woman, who seems to know SP, later showed up in a car. She opened the door for him and he gave her his mobile phone before shouting, “money talks!” and doing hand gestures in front of his crotch.

He entered the car and it drove away.

The Badung Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) arrested SP later that same day. While he did not challenge officers to a physical confrontation, he kept blabbering as he was being handcuffed and taken away.

I Gusti Agung Ketut Suryanegara, who heads Satpol PP Badung, told Coconuts today that SP is currently being treated at Ngoerah Hospital. The hospital staff have alerted the Immigration Office about his situation.

“[We] suspect that [he] was depressed. He has been calm after being treated [at the hospital],” the official said.
