Another woman wearing shorts posts about getting leg slashed in Denpasar

In just a week’s time, there have been reports of two different women in the Denpasar area getting slashed in the leg by strangers.

Last week it was a woman under the Facebook profile name ‘Ayu’, who shared pictures on Dec. 7 of her bloody, gory leg, saying that she had been slashed in the leg in broad daylight by an unidentified man on a motorbike.

And now a woman who has been identified in reports as Jasmine apparently got a slash wound on Dec. 12.

Jasmine says had been coming back from Legian to her kos in Glogor Carik Denpsar and after buying some food, a person cornered her and slashed her right thigh.

Though it wasn’t as bad as Ayu’s wound needing 31 stitches, Jasmine says she needed four stitches.

But apparently neither of the two women have reported these incidents to the police.

“There have been no reports from the victims. But our attention is on these cases. Our members have been mobilized,” South Denpasar Police Chief Nanang Prihasmoko said on Monday, as quoted by Tribun Bali

“If they report it, we can get clear traits of the offenders,” he added.

The police chief says women should exercise caution, especially when out in the morning, since the two events were said to occur early on in the day.

While we can’t know the slashers’ motives for sure for injuring these women, there’s been a fair share of speculation that they are sexist jerks who disapprove of women wearing shorts.
