Local residents of Banjar Dinas Kelod Kangin in Buleleng, North Bali have made it abundantly clear that theft shall not stand in their village.
Residents mercilessly burnt the motorbike of a teenager caught stealing a cock on Thursday morning—you just don’t mess with Balinese and their roosters.
Gede S tried to make his move when rooster’s owner Nengah Arsa was napping, but the bird apparently made a commotion when the 19-year-old attempted to remove it from its cage, according to Tejakula Police Chief Ketut Mangku.
So the sounds of that very loyal rooster awoke Arsa, who ran outside to discover Arsa with his arms full, holding the bird, Mangku explained.
“Then the victim (Arsa) was shouting ‘thief’ and the perpetrator took off with the rooster that he was holding. But then a crowd came to secure the perpetrator,” Mangku told Tribun Bali.
From there, the angry mob set fire to Gede’s Honda Vario. A picture published by Tribun showed that only the bike’s metal frame remained.
Police say they’re currently in the process of investigating the case.
