With his execution pushing closer and closer, Andrew Chan quickly married his fiancé at Nusakambangan prison island yesterday to seal the deal before it’s too late.
The final message he wants to leave his new wife, Febyanti Herewila, with is to stay strong and accept what will happen to him later, Chan’s older brother Michael Chan told Kompas.
“Andrew asked his wife to be resilient,” Michael Chan said to Kompas on Monday night.
According to Michael, Andrew did not show any signs of sadness during his family’s visit to the prison, but instead looked tough.
The word on the street has been that the execution of Andrew Chan and seven others will take place after midnight tonight, though while this has been confirmed by Karim Utomo, an attorney for a Nigerian inmate, most reports have said it’s unofficially been announced, but the executions are believed to be on track for after midnight.
