Andrew Chan weds in prison just ahead of Indonesian execution date

When Bali Nine Australian Andrew Chan found out that his bid for clemency was rejected by President Jokowi in January earlier this year, he decided to propose to his girlfriend. There must be nothing like an execution date over your head to put that carpe diem in practice.

It was announced just on Monday on the Friends of Andrew Chan Facebook page that Chan acutally was able to tie the knot before his execution:

Chan reportedly met his now wife, Febyanti Herewila, in May 2012 through a mutual friend, bonding over their Christian faith since “Feby” visited Kerobokan prison as a pastor and Chan was also involved in theological studies and eventually ordained this February.

Herewila, who is Indonesian, originally from Yogyakarta, has said her love for Chan is real and not out of pity
