The dead body of a woman who was found on Bingin Beach yesterday morning has been identified as that of an American national, as police continue their investigation into the case.

South Kuta sub-precinct chief Yusak Agustinus Sooai told local media outlet Tribun today that the foreigner, identified as 49-year-old GWH, was on holiday in Bali and was staying at a villa in the area.

“We suspect that she died after falling from the cliff above Bingin Beach, possibly she was walking around on the edge of the cliff at the time,” Yusak said, adding that there’s a popular photo spot at the location.

According to reports, a local resident was fishing when he saw something he first thought was a doll fall from the cliff. When he went to inspect the scene, he found the body of the dead woman. She had fair skin and black hair, and was wearing red clothing.

The body was then evacuated to Sanglah General Hospital in Denpasar, and authorities are now waiting for her family for funeral arrangements.
