An American senior staying in Karangasem, East Bali reportedly suffered quite heavy losses after experiencing a villa break-in on Friday around 4 am.
The victim realized that the room in Villa Jasri, Jasri Village had been broken into upon waking when clothes and other belongings were scattered in a mess on the floor.
Tribun Bali has identified the victim as 66-year-old Emerald Starr.
Starr allegedly lost Rp 25 million cash, three credit cards, a checkbook from the US, two computers, one Toshiba and one Mac, and two mobile phones, which are estimated to be worth a total of Rp 60 million altogether.
It is understood that the thief accessed Starr’s stuff by prying open a closet.
Karangasem Police Insp. Spokesman Komang Orta confirmed the incident to local media and says Polsek Karangasem is now handling the case.
