American MMA fighter, coach killed in Canggu crash

An American MMA fighter living and coaching in Bali was found dead on Jl. Batu Bolong in Canggu on Sunday morning.

It’s alleged that the American, Casey Suire, 40, died after he lost control of his scooter while driving on and crashed it into the side of the road.

An apparent witness, I Made Tedy, 18, said he was working near the scene when heard a loud noise, like a vehicle crashing. He went to the sound and claims to have only seen a Honda Vario without a license plate, lying on the roadside, near the gutter. Tedy is reportedly an employee at Oka’s Bakery and Cafe.

“I hadn’t yet seen the victim at that moment,” Tedy told police, as quoted by Rima News

Police were then contacted and upon arrival at the scene, found the victim, headfirst, on the side of the road.

Badung Traffic Police Chief Insp. Putu Raka confirmed the accident to local media and said the American’s body has been taken to the Sanglah Hospital morgue in Denpasar.

Bali MMA, where Suire had been training, posted tributes to their Facebook page, following Suire’s death.
