An American man in Bali says his Harley Davidson motorcycle is missing.
Fifty-six-year-old Stephen Richard Patrick reported his Harley missing at Jl. By Pass Ngurah Rai to police in Denpasar last week on July 23, reports Tribun Bali.
Patrick says it all started when he parked his Harley and crossed the road after his tire burst, according to Nanang Prihasmoko of South Denpasar Police.
“After parking his vehicle, which had a problem, he went to seek help,” Prihasmoko explained, adding that the American man says his bike was gone in a matter of minutes.
“Because he lost the bike, he then reported it to South Denpasar Police,” he added.
However, there are a number of irregularities in the report, Prihasmoko says.
“His story is inconsistent, so we are still studying the report, whether the Harley in question is really truly lost,” the police officer told Tribun.
Police are checking into Patrick’s story at a more in-depth level to make sure he’s not trying to pull a fast one on them, as there have been a number of cases where foreign tourists reported something missing so they could cash in on their insurance claims, according to Tribun’s report.
“Thus, we are cautious,” Prihasmoko said, as police continue to investigate.
