Bali’s notorious Kerobokan Prison is facing yet another foreign prisoner escape scandal.

An American man, indicted for 5.71 grams of hashish, has escaped from the Indonesian prison, police confirmed.

“It’s possible he passed through the roof, we are still examining the scene,” North Kuta Police Criminal Investigation Unit Insp. Putu Ika Prabawa told Bali Post on Monday.

Christian Beasley, 32, had been convicted of drug charges and was due for sentencing in Denpasar District Court on Tuesday.

The American was previously arrested earlier this year in August when trying to pick up the hashish on Sunset Road.

Beasley’s escape follows the brazen Kerobokan breakout in June 2017 of Australian Shaun Edward Davidson and Malaysian Tee Kok Kong, who remain at large. The two other prisoners they had busted out with were shortly recaptured.

Correction: It has come to our attention after publishing this article that Beasley had already been convicted on drug charges and was due in court for sentencing. We have updated this article to reflect this newly-available information.
