American could get 12 months prison for weed possession in Bali

While Americans may enjoy the privilege to toke up in some of the states, they better know it’s a whole different story in Indonesia.

An American citizen facing marijuana possession charges was recommended a sentence of 12 months in prison by a Bali prosecutor, reports the Jakarta Post

“The defendant is guilty of possessing grade one drugs for self consumption and breaching Law No. 35/2009 on narcotics,” prosecutor Ni Wayan Yusmawati told the Denpasar District Court, as quoted by the Jakarta Post.

Scott Wikoff Odowd was reportedly arrested on February 15 at a Denpasar hotel when police found 3.10 grams of pot in his suitcase.

The 31-year-old has reportedly admitted to possession of the marijuana and claims to have purchased it for Rp 600,000 from a person identified as IWJ, who happened to be on the police’s most wanted list.
